It’s about time that I write a review on this book. I read Rebel of the Sands a few months ago, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. It’s an action-filled adventure with an aura of romance and mystery…my favourite kind of book! 😉
Synopsis (Goodreads):
She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.
Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there’s nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can’t wait to escape from.
Destined to wind up “wed or dead,” Amani’s counting on her sharpshooting skills to get her out of Dustwalk. When she meets Jin, a mysterious and devastatingly handsome foreigner, in a shooting contest, she figures he’s the perfect escape route. But in all her years spent dreaming of leaving home, she never imagined she’d gallop away on a mythical horse, fleeing the murderous Sultan’s army, with a fugitive who’s wanted for treason. And she’d never have predicted she’d fall in love with him… or that he’d help her unlock the powerful truth of who she really is.
Rating (Goodreads): 4 stars/5
Review:
Everything in this book deserves a big round of applause. I really admire the author for being able to vividly describe the setting and plot. This book had me glued from the beginning to the very end. Amani’s journey is inspiring, to say the least. She disguises herself as a boy in an attempt to leave her conservative town, Dustwalk. There are so many reasons behind her decision to leave such as her uncle forcing her to get married and not being able to pursue what she loves. However, the most intriguing part is that she isn’t alone in this journey as she has a companion named Jin, a mysterious foreigner. The words that the author has used to describe the setting makes it seem so realistic. It is as if I were living back in time in a desert and witnessing the adventurous journey of Amani and Jin filled with ups and downs. The manner in which the characters support each other throughout the novel is heart-warming. Of course, adventure plays the most important role in this novel, but the aura of mystery and romance adds up to the excitement of the book. Overall, this was a great read and I would definitely recommend you to read the book if you’re looking for something magical, fast-paced, and adventurous!
My favourite quote from the book:
“I wasn’t up to no good. Then again, I wasn’t exactly up to no bad either.”

Great review & love that quote! I just watched a booktube video where book 2 Traitor To The Throne was hauled & it’s 3 times the size of Rebel lol. This for some reason makes me very happy & motivates me to read it once & for all when I get in tonight LOL.

You’re welcome! You should definitely read it soon. Well, it’s actually set in a desert nation called Miraji, so you can consider it to be a Middle Eastern setting. 😀
