Cheers to 2018!

Hi, everyone! 🙂

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on the blog and I’ve missed it so much! With everything going on, it is quite challenging to make time for creating blog posts and keep up to date with everyone else. However, I’m going to try my best to post more often this new year.

A toast to 2017:
I’ll admit there were some ups and downs over the course of the year, but I’ve learned a lot during the past year. I discovered my weaknesses as a person and have decided to overcome them by doing some daily activities to help set a good routine. Secondly, self-love. I cannot stress how much this term has helped me improve my confidence and thinking pattern. I will be writing a post dedicated to this soon. Last but not least, stay focused on your goals. No matter what distractions may be happening around you, stay focused. All in all, 2017 was a good year filled with learning experiences.

Snippet-Talk It Out

The thought comes back around,
but we don’t say a word.
The feelings creep their way up,
but we bury them under.
The pain stays at the back of our minds,
but we never mention it.
The relationship broke down,
but we never got closure.

Have we lost the ability to communicate?

It’s time to get it off our chest.
To say the words,
we never thought we would say.
To answer questions,
we thought would stay unanswered.
To make connections,
we never would have made.
Talk it out.

Snippet-You Are Not Alone

I’ve decided to share something different with you all today.
There are unexpected days where I feel like writing poems that describe the way I feel. They aren’t the best, but they help me vent out my feelings so I can go by the day positively. Here’s a short one that I wrote the other day. Hope you like it! 🙂

Know that you’re not alone
It may seem like it,
but you are not alone.
They may not see through your smile.
They may disregard you at times.
They may not see your true worth.
They might not even listen.
However, there is a person out there,
drowned in the same feelings as you,
looking for their kindred spirit.

In short, this poem describes how people often consider themselves to be unimportant to others. This thought might be triggered due to a certain event that took place or it may just be the way they feel about themselves in general. I think it’s important for an individual to understand that there is always a person out there who cares about you more than you can ever imagine be it a family member, friend, or partner.

Review: The Face Shop Herb Day 365 Cleansing Foam

I recently purchased the Lemon Herb Day 365 Cleansing Foam from The Face Shop and I was very satisfied with the results.

Packaging: The packaging is a white squeeze tube with a proper click on lid which ensures that the cleansing foam doesn’t dry up easily.

Consistency: The cleansing foam has a cream like texture. Once spread evenly on your face, it become a little foamy similar to that of a soap bar.

Feel: The cleanser felt very light and refreshing on my skin. I love the lemon scent of the foam too.

Result: After washing my face with lukewarm water, my skin had a baby-like softness and looked brighter. The lemon extract helps purify your skin thereby leaving a nice glow. In fact, if you’ve got makeup on, it does a great job getting rid of the remaining makeup and dirt on your skin.

When to use: It’s best to use it at night before going to bed. Make sure to apply the cleanser on wet face. You can also apply a toner after cleansing your face.

Verdict: Overall, I am happy with the results of this cleanser and would definitely recommend it to everyone as it suitable for all skin types. 🙂

  1. What’s your favourite book from your childhood?

    Harry Potter, hands down.

  2. From the best of your knowledge, what is your favourite childhood memory?

    My favourite childhood memory as far as I can remember is a Barbie contest that I had participated in along with my mom. This memory is so vivid in my mind because of the numerous photos that are stored in my album.

  3. What was your favourite subject in school? Why?

    My favourite subject in school was English Literature and Computer Technology. I never got bored of learning new things in these classes.

  4. If reincarnation is real, what would you like to come back as?

    That’s an interesting question! I think I would like to reincarnate as a bird (as weird as it sounds) because I love travelling and exploring new places.

  5. Name one reason why you would want to teleport to the future? What do you think it will behold?

    I’m loving the questions, haha. What would be most interesting about teleporting to the future is to gain an insight on what the future holds for me and who still exists in my life. It might be scary to know what’s going to happen to you, but it would be exciting at the same time.

  6. Who is your favourite hero/heroine in YA literature?

    Oh, that’s a tough one. I have so many favourite YA characters and the list is pretty much endless. If I had to choose one, the hero would be Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower and heroine would be Caddy from Beautiful Broken Things.

  7. You’ve won a million dollars; what’s the very first thing you do with the money?

    Travel! I haven’t travelled to a lot of the places mentioned on my bucket list, so I would definitely spend the money there.

  8. It’s movie watching time; what’s your favourite movie genre that you’re most likely going to watch? Do you have a favourite movie?

    I enjoy watching a lot of movie genres, but my favourites are Sci-Fi and Animated movies. The one movie that I can watch over and over again is Big Hero 6!

  9. You can instantly travel to anywhere in the world; where are you travelling to? Why?

    I would love to travel to Norway just so I can experience the Northern Lights. ❤

  10. You find a genie (with no restrictions) and are the lucky one to have three of your wishes granted; what are they?

    I would wish to get my dream job, unlimited books, and always be able to bring a smile to someone’s face.

  11. What book series or standalone novel would you recommend/do recommend to anyone? Why?

    There are so many books that I have in mind. Some of them are:

  • To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
  • Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
  • Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Bernard
  • When We Collided by Emery Lord
  • The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

Despite the fact that I can’t try the clothes out before buying them, I think online shopping is much easier and convenient.     1900’s Gingham print is back in action! This dress comes in blue and black, but I personally prefer the blue gingham print. I would love to buy this dress seeing as it is the perfect one for the summer season.

    There’s nothing better than wearing a loose tee on a hot summer day. I think the print of this shirt is pretty cute.

    Like I said, I love embroidered clothing, so this top is one of my favourites. I think the cut is perfect and the red flowers really stand out.

    Light blue is definitely one of my favourite colours so this shirt is already on my good side, haha. I really like the pattern of this shirt. Plus, the cat detailing adds up to the overall design of the shirt.

    Whenever I  have a long day’s work, I prefer wearing wide leg pants rather than skinny trousers because they are comfortable and in fashion! It isn’t easy to find a pair with perfect fitting, but these cropped pants definitely give a classy look.

I adore tote bags because they are convenient, practical, and stylish. I definitely prefer tote bags over handbags because they are bigger and can easily carry more stuff. Not to mention, there are a variety of tote bags available in the market.

Review: L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

If you’re on a hunt for a good foundation, look no further!

I recently purchased the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation and I was beyond satisfied with the product.

Packaging: I like the packaging because it’s simple and easy to carry around without making a mess.

Coverage: This foundation has far by the best coverage. I have tried out many foundations in the past, but there’s something about the texture of L’Oreal’s foundation that gives you maximum coverage without weighing down your skin. Plus, it leaves a smooth finish.

Suitability: I have a combination skin type so this product worked fine for me. However, from what I’ve heard, the foundation works well with oily and acne-prone skin types too as it is matte and doesn’t add up to the oiliness of your skin.

How long did it last? 
I wore this foundation in the morning to kick start my day and by the time I got home at night, the foundation was still in tact. Also, considering the fact that it’s really hot outside, the foundation didn’t come off easily even when I dabbed my face with a tissue to get rid of the sweat.

Verdict: It’s safe to say that if you’re looking for a long-lasting foundation, then this particular one is perfect for you.

Who are they?

Bastille is a British indie band formed in 2010. The members of the band are Dan Smith, Kyle Simmons, Will Farquarson, and Chris Wood. They won themselves a Brit Award in 2014 for the “British Breakthrough Act.”

What genre of music do they produce?

The band is famous for their indie rock and indie pop songs.

Internship Diaries

Internships mean different things to different people. For me, an internship is one of the most important parts of your higher education because it gives you real life experience and broadens your perspective. I’m currently pursuing my studies at university and I decided to intern at a company during the summer vacation. One of the main reasons why I took this decision was because I wanted to do something productive and new.

Today, I’m going to share with you some of the advantages of doing an internship:

  1. Work Experience:

    Internships are the best way to get hands-on experience of everything you’ve learned so far. Since you are involved in many departments of the company that you’re working for, it will really add up to your CV.

  2. Interpersonal Skills:

    Another benefit of being an intern is that you learn how to communicate and behave in an official workplace, so even if you make any mistakes, you will learn from them. In fact, you build your confidence when you speak to new people and pitch your ideas to them.

  3. Gain Exposure:

    When you work for the first time, you get exposed to a lot of new things. In the sense, you observe what people are doing and get an outlook on what really goes on behind the scenes.

  4. Connecting With People:

    When you enter a new workplace, you tend to interact with a lot of people. In fact, you make connections with people who might even share the same interests as you.

All in all, from my personal experience, I can definitely assure you that being an intern is a lot of fun because you learn something new every day!
