It’s not unrealistic for some people to admit that they tend to appreciate others’ for the contribution they have made to this world but rarely take the time to appreciate themselves for the work they’ve done. There is definitely a thin line between appreciating yourself and being borderline pompous. When it comes to self-appreciation, don’t feel weird to pat yourself on the back every once in a while you achieve something that you’ve been working so hard for. I’m saying this from my own experience because just the other day, I was thinking how I always focus on the things I do wrong and seldom focus on the things that I’ve accomplished.
Anyway, here are a few tips on how to appreciate yourself:
Think about all the things you’ve done this week:
Sit, relax, and look back at all the good/bad things you’ve done this week. Focus more on the good things and tell yourself that you’ve earned this. However, this doesn’t mean that you neglect the bad things, just look at it from a different perspective. 🙂
Feel like you’ve actually done something to take your lie one step further? Treat yourself to some ice cream! (That’s what I do, haha)
When someone appreciates you for your work, thank them:
Now, this happens way too often to me. When someone compliments me for my work, I tend to brush it off and say “It was no big deal, really.” But, in reality, it is a big deal otherwise why would someone compliment you in the first place…Hmm…
I hope you enjoyed reading this post!

Today is a very special day for women all around the world. Today, we strive to celebrate womanhood in the most inspirational way. I believe that Women’s Day is about bringing together women from different backgrounds and cultures and celebrating the differences in an effort to unite them rather than to hold them against one another. ❤
Irrespective of your role, you deserve to feel special on this day. Personally, being a woman brings me a sense of pride and strength. I strongly adhere to the fact that women deserve to be treated equally and deserve the rights that they were once refrained from. On this occasion, I would like to thank all the women who have played a significant role in shaping my life and making me the woman I am today. Of course, I have had the opportunity of meeting many wonderful ladies out there who have inspired me to become a better person. However, the most inspirational woman in my life is my mother. She has been my support system since day one. Never leaving my side, she has always motivated to chase my dreams and to never give up no matter what people say. It is safe to say that her belief in me has made me stronger and confident in myself whilst keeping myself grounded. She always says that if someone says that you aren’t capable of doing something, prove them wrong by following your instincts and doing the right thing. If it wasn’t for her, I would have never learnt the virtues of respect, humility, and empathy.
All in all, I would like to thank and appreciate all the magnificent women of this world for unapologetically being yourself and contributing to the community in a positive way! 🙂

What’s your favourite category on ‘The Jouska’? Let me know in the comments section below. (The categories are listed in the menu on the top left corner of the screen.) 🙂
The comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey. In My Lady Jane, coauthors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows have created a one-of-a-kind fantasy in the tradition of The Princess Bride, featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only a passing resemblance to actual history—because sometimes history needs a little help.
At sixteen, Lady Jane Grey is about to be married off to a stranger and caught up in a conspiracy to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But those trifling problems aren’t for Jane to worry about. Jane gets to be Queen of England.
I know I’ve been saying how much I loved reading this book, but it’s time to write a proper review on it! When I first heard about My Lady Jane, I wasn’t very keen on reading it because I’m not much of a history fan. However, after seeing a whole lot of positive reviews on this book, I decided to give it a shot. (And, I’m so glad that I did!)
The fact that this story is co-written by three talented authors is intriguing, to say the least. This book has the perfect blend of history, romance, humour, and magic. The intense and powerful scenes will have you craving for more, seriously. The story is told from the point of view of three characters, namely: Edward, Jane, and G. When it comes to character portrayal, the authors have done a great job by making use of puns, arguments, and other hilarious statements. To be honest, I felt like the characters were enacting a play right in front of me. The most interesting part of this book is that the story seamlessly flows from one scene to another without any interruption. It’s safe for me to say that this book went way beyond my expectations.
My favourite quote from the book:
“We’d fight much less if everyone would just sit down and read.”
I would definitely recommend this enthralling book to all readers looking for a fun, relaxing read that will instantly uplift your mood! 🙂

Finally, the time has arrived! I watched the movie, Finding Dory last Friday and it was an unforgettable adventure. I have always loved watching animated movies, especially Disney movies because they hold a very special place in my heart since my childhood! ❤
Dory is a wide-eyed, blue tang fish who suffers from memory loss every 10 seconds or so. The one thing she can remember is that she somehow became separated from her parents as a child. With help from her friends Nemo and Marlin, Dory embarks on an epic adventure to find them. Her journey brings her to the Marine Life Institute, a conservatory that houses diverse ocean species. Dory now knows that her family reunion will only happen if she can save mom and dad from captivity.
The whole movie was an emotional journey for me. In the past, as most of you would remember, it was Nemo who got lost. However, this time, it isn’t Nemo but Dory who gets lost in pursuit of finding her family by regaining her memories from the past. During her adventure, she also connects with a friend from the past named Destiny. (But, Dory doesn’t remember her friend because of her short-term memory loss.)
I did cry during few parts of the movie, especially at the end of it. Believe it or not, there are so many life lessons that I’ve learned from watching this movie:
1. Firstly, the importance of family and friends. During your worst or best times, it’s always a good idea to have a support system with you, which of course, is your family and friends.
2. Secondly, never give up on what you love. It is ultimately Dory’s love for her parents that motivated her to go in search of them.
3. Thirdly, there’s always a path to guide you in the right direction. As Dory says, just keep swimming. Don’t get disheartened if you don’t find a solution to your problem right away, give it time and good things will come to you.
4. The effect of harsh words. When Marlin tells Dory that, “Forgetting is what you do best.” Dory takes it to her heart and moves away from the scene as quickly as possible which further leads to trouble. Hence, always be careful of what you speak.
5. Last but not the least, there’s no place like home.
It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, I’m sure you’ll enjoy watching this movie!
What’s your favorite part of the movie? Let me know in the comments section below. 🙂
Happy Father’s Day to all the brave fathers out there! ❤
My father is a courageous and hard-working man. He always makes sure to fulfil his family duties and ensures that we are all happy. Despite facing a few struggles here and there, he never gave up. He fought because he believed that taking care of his family was his prime responsibility, and I appreciate him for that.
As a child, we used to spend a lot of time together, playing games, sports and doing other fun things. As I grew up, I admired my father’s work ethic and punctuality. No matter how tired or stressed he is, he’ll keep going. He always says, “The golden fruit you bear is the result of all your hard work. There’s a time for everything.”
The one father-daughter bonding thing that we do is giving life advice to each other. He does most of the work, but I contribute a little too, haha. I can proudly say that his advice has helped me so far in life and I’m sure it will be of greater help in the future. 🙂
Sure, we argue sometimes about irrelevant things like ‘Going to the dealer is such a rip-off’ and ‘I could’ve done that for you’ and so on. But, in the end, we forgive each other and just go back to the way things were.
Undoubtedly, I love a lot of things about my father. However, if I had to choose what I love most about him, it would be his determination and hard-working personality. Thank you for all that you’ve done for me, dad. I love you!
What do you love most about your father? Share your thoughts with me in the comments section below. 😀

Hi, everyone! 🙂
I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Once again, thank you so much for all the love and support. All these Award nominations make me jump with happiness. ❤
Before I start, I would like to thank Christina for the nomination. She posts informative articles about travel, food and much more. Do visit her blog! 😀
- Post the award on your blog.
- Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you.
- Answer 11 questions that have been assigned to you.
- Nominate 11 deserving bloggers for the award.
- Ask 11 questions to your nominees.
Answers to Christina’s questions:
- How do you bring sunshine into someone’s day?
Well, I appreciate them for the work they’ve done or I gift them something to make them feel special.
- What has been your biggest ambition?
My biggest ambition is to become a Marketing Director of a leading Fashion Company.
- If you could travel to any time period, which one would it be? And if possible, would you change the course of history or do you feel that history is something we should leave untouched?
That’s an interesting question! I think it would be the Victorian Era because it was a long period of peace and prosperity. I believe that history should remain untouched because it is something that we are rooted upon.
- If you’ve lost motivation at work and find that your true interests lie elsewhere, would you make that change? Even if it includes struggles along the way?
Yes, I think I would make that jump in my life because it’s not worth wasting your time on something that you don’t enjoy doing. In the end, it will be worth all the struggle. 🙂
- What would your perfect weekend look like?
My perfect weekend is laying on the couch with some snacks(Cookies, Chocolate, and Popcorn) and binge-watching my favorite tv shows.
- If you could go anywhere in the world for a week (and money were not an issue), where would you go and with whom?
I’ve always wanted to visit London alone. Ah, just thinking about it makes me smile!
- In your group of close friends, are you the type to plan get-togethers or are you comfortable with letting others decide?
It depends on my mood, really. Most of the time, I don’t take the initiative to plan such events.
- What did you want to be when you were a kid?
When I was a kid, I wanted to be an Air Hostess for Emirates Airlines because of their beautiful, sophisticated uniform.
- Your favorite childhood movie was?
To be honest, I have many favorites. But, if I had to choose one, it would be The Lion King!
- Are you a risk taker? Why or why not?
Not really, I usually opt for the safer options because I’m afraid of things not going the way they were supposed to. However, there are a few times where I have been quite risky and taken my chances.
- Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hm, that’s a difficult question to answer. I think that all my hard work and hours of sleeplessness would’ve paid off, and I’ll be living happily with no worries at all. Also, I will be traveling more often than I am now in hopes of covering the entire world.
Those were some pretty great questions, how did you even come up with them? 😮
Everyone deserves a little sunshine in their life, so I’m going to keep the nominations for this award open. If you’re interested in this award, feel free to let me know in the comments section below! 🙂

- Which TV show would you binge-watch?
- Would you rather travel alone or with your family and friends?
- What’s your personality type? (Introvert, Extrovert, Ambivert or any other ‘vert’.)
- If you could eat one dessert for the rest of your life, what would it be?
