Appreciate Yourself

Image result for pat yourself on the back gif

It’s not unrealistic for some people to admit that they tend to appreciate others’ for the contribution they have made to this world but rarely take the time to appreciate themselves for the work they’ve done. There is definitely a thin line between appreciating yourself and being borderline pompous. When it comes to self-appreciation, don’t feel weird to pat yourself on the back every once in a while you achieve something that you’ve been working so hard for. I’m saying this from my own experience because just the other day, I was thinking how I always focus on the things I do wrong and seldom focus on the things that I’ve accomplished.

Anyway, here are a few tips on how to appreciate yourself:

  1. Think about all the things you’ve done this week:

Sit, relax, and look back at all the good/bad things you’ve done this week. Focus more on the good things and tell yourself that you’ve earned this. However, this doesn’t mean that you neglect the bad things, just look at it from a different perspective. 🙂

  2. Treat yourself:

Image result for treat yourself gif
Feel like you’ve actually done something to take your lie one step further? Treat yourself to some ice cream! (That’s what I do, haha)

  3. When someone appreciates you for your work, thank them:

Now, this happens way too often to me. When someone compliments me for my work, I tend to brush it off and say “It was no big deal, really.” But, in reality, it is a big deal otherwise why would someone compliment you in the first place…Hmm…

I hope you enjoyed reading this post!

3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge: Day 3

Quote of the day:

Why I love this quote?

A lot of us are afraid to speak our mind simply because we are cautious about what other people will think. However, I’ve realized that the best thing you can do is to be yourself and speak your mind because that way, you’ll be able to make new friends who accept you for who you are without any judgement. Speaking from the point of view of fandoms, you should be proud of the fandoms you enjoy being in. Remember, it doesn’t matter what other people think as long as it brings a smile to your face! It’s not uncommon to see people judging others based on their taste in music, TV shows, books, and so on. However, we must realize that we live in a diverse world, and we should appreciate the differences in people rather than judging them for it. Anyway, the point is:

  1. Speak your mind! Don’t be afraid.
  2. Be a proud fangirl/fanboy!
  3. Be unapologetic because you are entitled to have your own likes and dislikes.

Since it’s the last day of the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge, I want to know your favourite book quotes! Feel free to share your choice of quotes in the comments section below. 😀

3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge: Day 2

3 days

Today’s Quote:

Image result for if you read more, you live more quote

Why I love this quote?

I have to admit that I used to love reading Dr. Seuss books as a child because of the funny illustrations and the funky fonts. I believe that books have the ability to endow us with a lot of knowledge and facts irrespective of their genres. When we read books, we get a chance to broaden our horizon. We develop a positive pattern of thinking which motivates us to explore more about the world in general. Anyone for that matter can pick up a book of their interest so that they can gain a wider perspective be it arts, sciences, language, business, education, sports, fashion, movies and so on. In conclusion, I believe reading books is vital for our well-being.

The Epically Awesome Award

Hi, everyone! 🙂

I’ve been nominated for the Epically Awesome Award. To be honest, I’ve never heard of this award before, but it seems like a good way to engage and motivate bloggers across the blogging community.epic

Before I start, I would like to thank Bigandpinkytoes for the nomination. She posts great articles about family, food, and much more. Do visit her blog! 😀

The Rules:

  1. Post the award on your blog.
  2. Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you.
  3. Answer the 5 questions.
  4. Nominate 5 deserving bloggers for the award.

Answers to the questions:

  1. What made you choose WordPress as a blogging platform?
Well, I did have a fan blog a long time ago on Tumblr, but then I deleted it because it just didn’t feel right. However, this year, I searched Google for the ‘Best Blogging Platforms’ and tada! I saw WordPress over there. I knew that WP would be the perfect blogging platform for me because it’s convenient and customizable, which in a way lets me express myself freely!

My expression when I found WordPress, haha.

  2. Introduce yourself and tell us about your blog.
I’m Flaneur, and I like to multi-task. Some of my hobbies are reading, blogging, being artsy, cooking, and much more. Moving on to my blog, ‘The Jouska’, it took me a while to come up with this name because I wanted something unique that I could relate to. I post articles on different topics namely: Food, Fashion, Books, Thoughts, and other interesting things. Also, the one thing that makes me like my blog  more is the support I receive from all my readers.
  3. Are you a once in a while blogger or a daily one?
I consider myself to be a daily blogger because I try my best to post something new every day (if time permits) or at least every alternate day.

  4. Do you wish to publish a book and if so, what type of book?
I love reading books, but writing a book is on a whole new level. I think it would be interesting to write a Young Adult book, maybe someday in the future, but not right now.
  5. What is your favorite thing to do besides writing?
Besides writing and reading, I like to:
    a) Listen to Music.
    b) Cook food every now and then.
    c) Get creative with home decor and other art-related things.
    d) Explore new places.

All of your epically awesome blogs deserve this award. Also, I’d like to get to know all of you better. If you’re interested in this award, feel free to let me know in the comments section below! 🙂

From the lyrics to the beat, everything about this song screams positivity.
  4. Taylor Swift-Shake It Off

Shake it off! Shake it off! This is what I say to my haters and laugh it off.

The Sunshine Blogger Award

Hi, everyone! 🙂

I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Once again, thank you so much for all the love and support. All these Award nominations make me jump with happiness.

Before I start, I would like to thank Christina for the nomination. She posts informative articles about travel, food and much more. Do visit her blog! 😀

The Rules:

  1. Post the award on your blog.
  2. Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you.
  3. Answer 11 questions that have been assigned to you.
  4. Nominate 11 deserving bloggers for the award.
  5. Ask 11 questions to your nominees.

Answers to Christina’s questions:

  1. How do you bring sunshine into someone’s day?
Well, I appreciate them for the work they’ve done or I gift them something to make them feel special.
  2. What has been your biggest ambition?
My biggest ambition is to become a Marketing Director of a leading Fashion Company.
  3. If you could travel to any time period, which one would it be? And if possible, would you change the course of history or do you feel that history is something we should leave untouched?
That’s an interesting question! I think it would be the Victorian Era because it was a long period of peace and prosperity. I believe that history should remain untouched because it is something that we are rooted upon.
  4. If you’ve lost motivation at work and find that your true interests lie elsewhere, would you make that change? Even if it includes struggles along the way?
Yes, I think I would make that jump in my life because it’s not worth wasting your time on something that you don’t enjoy doing. In the end, it will be worth all the struggle. 🙂
  5. What would your perfect weekend look like?
My perfect weekend is laying on the couch with some snacks(Cookies, Chocolate, and Popcorn) and binge-watching my favorite tv shows.
  6. If you could go anywhere in the world for a week (and money were not an issue), where would you go and with whom?
I’ve always wanted to visit London alone. Ah, just thinking about it makes me smile!
  7. In your group of close friends, are you the type to plan get-togethers or are you comfortable with letting others decide?
It depends on my mood, really. Most of the time, I don’t take the initiative to plan such events.
  8. What did you want to be when you were a kid?
When I was a kid, I wanted to be an Air Hostess for Emirates Airlines because of their beautiful, sophisticated uniform.
  9. Your favorite childhood movie was?
To be honest, I have many favorites. But, if I had to choose one, it would be The Lion King!
  10. Are you a risk taker? Why or why not?
Not really, I usually opt for the safer options because I’m afraid of things not going the way they were supposed to. However, there are a few times where I have been quite risky and taken my chances.
  11. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hm, that’s a difficult question to answer. I think that all my hard work and hours of sleeplessness would’ve paid off, and I’ll be living happily with no worries at all. Also, I will be traveling more often than I am now in hopes of covering the entire world.

Those were some pretty great questions, how did you even come up with them? 😮

Everyone deserves a little sunshine in their life, so I’m going to keep the nominations for this award open. If you’re interested in this award, feel free to let me know in the comments section below! 🙂

My questions for the Nominees:

  1. How do you bring sunshine to someone’s life?
  2. Do you get more satisfaction in giving things or receiving things?
  3. Do you prefer smaller or bigger groups?
  4. If you could swap lives with any famous person, who would it be? And, why?
  5. Which TV show would you binge-watch?
  6. Would you rather travel alone or with your family and friends?
  7. What’s your personality type? (Introvert, Extrovert, Ambivert or any other ‘vert’.)
  8. If you could eat one dessert for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  9. Do you practice any sport?
  10. If you were an author, what would you name your book?
  11. Which music genre do you prefer listening to?

I hope you enjoyed reading my answers! And, I’m looking forward to reading your answers. 😀

3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge: Day 3

I’m not going to lie, choosing only three of my favorite quotes has been quite challenging for me.

Since it’s my last day of doing the challenge, I’ve saved the best quote for the last!
Today’s Quote:

Why I love this quote?
We all have dreams that we want to achieve sooner or later in life. While some people keep dreaming, others take a step forward to turn their dreams into reality. Diligence, perseverance, and commitment is all you need to achieve your dreams. It may not necessarily be as big as someone else’s dream, but it is as important as any other dream. Never underestimate the power of your mind, it can do wonders! There are many examples of famous as well as ordinary people who have gone a long way to come where they are today. Consider your favorite idol’s journey, it wasn’t smooth, was it?
I won’t hide the fact that there will be many ups and downs while you’re on your way to making your dreams come true, but in the end, it will all be worth it! 😀

As I said earlier, if you’re interested in doing the challenge, feel free to let me know in the comments section below.

What are your thoughts on dreams? Share your opinion with me in the comments section below. 🙂

The Blogger Recognition Award

Hi, everyone! 🙂

I’ve been nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award.

Before I start, I would like to thank Sadaptation for nominating me. You should visit her blog because she posts some pretty creative and interesting articles. 😀

  1. Write a post to show your award.
  2. Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you.
  3. Give a brief story of how you started your blog.
  4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  5. Nominate 15 bloggers who deserve the award.

How did I start my blog?

Well, to be honest, it was a decision that I made after a lot of self-debate. Even though I had an interest in blogging, there was something holding me back and that something was fear. I was confused, to say the least. I kept asking myself questions like:
Where should I start?
What should I write about?
Will people like my blog? and so on.
Sooner or later, I realized that I had to stop being such a wimp and just go for it. Maybe, it was my sudden surge of confidence that motivated me to start ‘The Jouska’ blog. I’m glad that I made that choice because I really enjoy being in the blogging community now. Also, I’m not very chatty in the real world, so having a blog gives me a way to express myself freely without any judgement.

My advice to new bloggers:

  1. Never be afraid of the outcome:
I know it’s hard to start something you’ve never done before. It’s scary. However, when it comes to blogging, don’t be afraid of what others think of your blog. You are the creator of your blog and there’s no one to stop you. Maybe your blog won’t do very well in the initial stage, but trust me, it will get better with time. Anyway, my point is, fear is your worst enemy so don’t let that get to you. Don’t think about what other people have to say, always be confident and sure of what you do.
  2. Be consistent:
Always make it a point to post as regularly as possible. If it’s difficult for you to post something new every day, then follow a consistent timetable. I’ve seen bloggers come and go because they get bored of their blog and end up deleting it. Remember one thing, your hard work will pay-off in the end. 🙂

*Drum Roll Please* I would like to nominate the following bloggers:

I hope that my piece of advice helps you find your way in the blogging community.
Congrats to all the nominees! I’m looking forward to reading your answers.

Because I’m Happy

Plays Happy by Pharrell Williams

Most people believe that money is the only thing that can make them happy. Other than money, there are various other ways in which people can achieve happiness.

Happiness is a simple yet meaningful word. Different people have different perceptions considering the meaning of happiness. For example, one may consider buying materialistic things to make themselves happy. On the contrary, someone else might think of nature when it comes to happiness.

Some of the things that make me happy:

  1. Seeing my parents laugh.
  2. Achieving something that I’ve worked hard for.
  3. Volunteering and lending a helping hand to those in need.
  4. Respect and Kindness.
  5. The Natural beauties of life.
  6. On a lighter note, The 3 C’s: Chocolate, Coffee, and Cupcakes. 😀

In conclusion, we must learn to appreciate the simple pleasures of life because this will help us achieve true, untainted happiness.

What makes you happy? Share your thoughts with me in the comments section below. 🙂
