That Awkward Moment When…

Let’s face it, there have been awkward moments in our life whether we like it or not. But, in the end, we must realise that we’re not alone. At least, I hope we’re not…?

Anyway, here are some awkward moments that I can relate to and hopefully, you can too:

  1. Sending a message to the wrong person.  Don’t even get me started on the consequences of doing this. No matter how much you try to un-send your message, it’s not going to work. *Sigh*
  2. Someone is waving in your direction and you excitedly wave back, not realising that they were actually waving at the person behind you. Oh, well. It’s time to awkwardly scratch the back of my neck.

  3. Not sure if the person approaching you is coming in for a handshake or a hug. I’m stuck in-between!
  4. Cracking a joke which seems funny to you, but no one laughs. Been there, done that. *Knock Knock*
  5. You run into someone on the street and sidestep them, but they go in the same direction as you, and you do that several times until one of you stops moving. Cue the awkward laughter and glances.
  6. Opening a packet of chips in a room where you could hear a pin drop, and suddenly you’re the centre of attention.  *Crunch* Looks around *Crunch*
  7. Stalking someone’s social media profile and accidentally liking a photo from when they were younger. *Runs away forever*
  8. Thinking there’s one more step to walk up or down the stairs and falling on the unexpectedly flat ground. This happened to me once…only once!

I hope you felt the awkwardness while reading this post, haha!

When the barber cuts your hair too short and you’re just smiling and nodding saying “it looks good.”

  3. Number 5 is the WORST and it happens to me all the time. The awkward laughter that follows haunts me.

Another one I’m constantly doing is saying “you too” when I’m buying food and the person serving says “enjoy your meal”.

Me too! I can totally understand the way you feel. 😐
Oh, how could I forgot that one! And, to top it off, the weird glances you get from people around you makes it even worse. *closes eyes*

      • Yes!! I’m also really good at tripping over my own feet (or air) and walking into glass doors, trees, poles ect. 😅 my life is pretty much just one giant awkward moment.

There is nothing in this post that I don’t relate to. Love it! I embrace the awkward so much that I don’t even notice the awkward anymore. Sometimes it’s nice to stop and laugh about it. 😀

  10. 1 & 4 were made for me! I was gonna bunk class in college and sent the text to the teachers daughter instead of my other friend … Had to show up for class the next day then going ‘kidding’ and doing no. 4! Oops … seems so funny now, but had me worried back then … lol!

When you bump into someone on the street who you know and when you say goodbye they walk the same direction as you so you end up having to either carry on the conversation or politely walk a little bit faster than them to get away!

How could I have forgotten that one! That has happened to me in the past and it’s so awkward. I usually walk a bit faster just to get away from them, haha! 😀

Hahah love it! Even worse, they do the same, so you end up walking fast together! It’s happened to me!

Definitely have to be smiling and answering some stranger on the street who wasn’t talking to me …but talking to someone behind me! (totally blanked me…it was a ‘ground open’ moment for me…sooo embarrassing!)
