Gayle Forman has never failed to amaze me with her books.
I Was Here is a perfect blend of mystery, tragedy, and romance.
The book is about a girl named Meg who suicides and writes an open letter to her family and friends without stating the specific reason as to why she chose to die. Cody, Meg’s best friend is appalled at her friend’s death and has no clue as to why she took that step in her life. Cody thought she knew everything about Meg but did she really?
Throughout the book, the reader will feel a surge of emotions coming through. Shock, pain, happiness and much more. The scenes have been perfectly portrayed by the author which gives the reader a vivid sense of what is happening.
My favorite quote from the book is, “Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself.”
Overall, it is a great book and totally worth a shot.
